Editorial Policy & Methodology

How we research, verify, and maintain the information on AutoAuctionAtlas — and the standards we hold ourselves to.

Last updated: February 2025

Introduction

AutoAuctionAtlas is an independent directory and knowledge resource for professional vehicle remarketing. We help dealers, fleet managers, and automotive industry professionals discover and compare B2B vehicle auction platforms worldwide.

This page documents exactly how we create, verify, and maintain our content — from the editorial standards we follow when writing guides, to the verification process behind every platform profile in our directory. Transparency is fundamental to what we do: if we ask professionals to rely on our information for business decisions, they deserve to know how that information was gathered and what quality controls are in place.

Every piece of content on AutoAuctionAtlas — whether a platform profile, a learn article, or a calculator tool — follows the processes described below. These are not aspirational guidelines; they are the working standards applied to every page published on this site.

Our Editorial Standards

All content published on AutoAuctionAtlas adheres to four core editorial principles: accuracy, source quality, independence, and expertise. These principles govern every platform profile, learn article, tool description, and glossary entry on the site.

Accuracy

Every factual claim is verified against at least one primary source before publication. For critical data points — such as platform fees, buyer access requirements, or geographic coverage — we require confirmation from multiple independent sources. When information cannot be verified, we either omit it or explicitly mark it as unconfirmed rather than presenting uncertain data as fact.

Source Quality

We follow a strict source hierarchy when researching content. Official platform documentation (fee schedules, terms of service, registration requirements) takes precedence. Industry associations and regulatory bodies come second. Trade publications and specialized media are used as supporting sources. Secondary or user-generated sources are only referenced when primary sources are unavailable, and they are clearly identified as such.

Independence

AutoAuctionAtlas operates with complete editorial independence. We do not accept payment for platform listings, publish sponsored content, or earn affiliate commissions. No platform can pay to improve its listing, receive a favorable description, or suppress unfavorable information. Our revenue model does not influence our editorial decisions. For more details, see our Editorial Independence Statement below.

Author Expertise

All content is created and reviewed by Christoph Paterok, who brings over 8 years of professional experience in B2B vehicle remarketing and automotive technology. This firsthand industry knowledge ensures that our content addresses the real-world needs of automotive professionals — from understanding auction mechanics to navigating cross-border remarketing complexities.

AI Assistance

We use AI tools to assist with certain aspects of content production, such as drafting, structuring, and formatting. All AI-assisted content undergoes human review, fact-checking, and editorial oversight before publication. For a detailed explanation of how we use AI and what safeguards are in place, see our AI Transparency page.

How We Research & Write Content

Every learn article, guide, playbook, and checklist on AutoAuctionAtlas follows a structured research and writing process designed to ensure accuracy and practical value for industry professionals.

Multi-Source Verification

Core claims in our content are verified against at least two independent sources. For example, if an article states that a specific country requires a dealer license for wholesale auction access, we verify this against official regulatory documentation and at least one additional authoritative source (industry association guidance, platform documentation, or trade publication reporting).

Primary Sources First

We prioritize official documentation: platform websites, published fee schedules, terms and conditions, regulatory filings, and official press releases. When writing about auction processes, fees, or requirements, we go directly to the platform's own documentation rather than relying on third-party summaries.

Source Attribution

All sources used in our learn content are cited at the end of each article using our SourceList component. Readers can verify our claims by consulting the same sources we used. We include direct links to source material wherever possible.

Editorial Review

Every article is reviewed by the founder before publication. This review checks factual accuracy, completeness, clarity, and relevance to the target audience. Articles that cover regulatory or legal topics receive additional scrutiny to ensure they accurately reflect current requirements and include appropriate disclaimers.

Regular Review Cycle

Published content is not static. Each article carries a "Last Updated" date, and we maintain a review schedule to ensure content remains current. See Update Frequency & Content Freshness for specific timelines.

Platform Data: Collection & Verification

The platform directory is the core of AutoAuctionAtlas. Each platform profile contains structured data — from geographic coverage and vehicle types to buyer requirements and auction formats. Here is how we collect, verify, and maintain that data.

Data Sources

We gather platform information from multiple sources, prioritized in this order:

  1. Official platform websites and documentation — The primary and most authoritative source. We review each platform's website, published fee schedules, FAQs, terms of service, and any publicly available documentation.
  2. Direct platform contact — When official documentation is incomplete or ambiguous, we reach out to platform representatives directly to clarify details.
  3. Industry publications and press releases — Trade media, industry reports, and official announcements provide supplementary information, particularly about platform launches, expansions, and market positioning.
  4. User reports — Feedback from automotive professionals who use these platforms. User-reported information is always verified against official sources before being incorporated into a platform profile.

Verification Process

Critical data points — fees, access requirements, geographic coverage, and auction formats — require confirmation from at least one primary source (typically the platform's own website or documentation). When discrepancies exist between sources, we default to the platform's official documentation and note the discrepancy if it may be relevant to users.

The "Verified" Badge

Platform profiles displaying the "Verified" badge have had their key data points confirmed against primary sources. This means the platform's geographic coverage, auction types, buyer requirements, and other core attributes have been cross-referenced with official documentation. The badge indicates data accuracy at the time of verification — platforms may update their offerings, which is why we maintain a regular review cycle.

The "Pending Review" Badge

Platforms with the "Pending Review" badge have been identified as relevant to our directory but are awaiting full data verification. Their profiles may contain preliminary information gathered from initial research. We include these platforms to provide comprehensive coverage while being transparent about the verification status of their data.

Handling Data Gaps

When specific information about a platform is not publicly available or cannot be independently verified, we clearly indicate this in the platform profile rather than guessing or leaving fields blank without explanation. Labels such as "Information not publicly available" or "Contact platform directly" signal to users that they should verify these details with the platform.

Platform Inclusion Criteria

Not every vehicle auction platform qualifies for inclusion in the AutoAuctionAtlas directory. We apply a consistent set of criteria to determine which platforms are listed, ensuring the directory remains relevant and useful for B2B automotive professionals.

Requirements for Inclusion

  • B2B capability — The platform must serve business-to-business transactions. Purely consumer-oriented platforms (private seller to private buyer) are excluded. Platforms that operate in a mixed B2B/B2C model are included if they have a meaningful B2B component.
  • Active operation — The platform must be currently operational and actively conducting vehicle auctions or remarketing transactions. Platforms that have ceased operations, are permanently suspended, or exist only as announcements are not listed.
  • Verifiability — The platform must have a verifiable web presence and sufficient publicly available information to create a meaningful profile. This typically means an active website, documentation of their services, or established industry presence.
  • Professional vehicle remarketing — The platform must facilitate professional vehicle remarketing. This includes wholesale auctions, fleet disposition, dealer-to-dealer trades, OEM remarketing, and similar professional channels.

What We Do Not Require

  • No minimum size — We do not exclude platforms based on transaction volume, company size, or market share. Regional specialists and niche platforms are valued alongside major international networks.
  • No geographic restriction — Platforms from any country or region are welcome. We actively seek to expand our coverage of underrepresented markets.
  • No payment — Inclusion is free. Platforms cannot pay for a listing, and they cannot be excluded for refusing to pay. See our Editorial Independence Statement.

Claiming a Listing

Platform operators can claim their listing by contacting us. Claimed listings allow platform operators to review their profile data and request corrections or updates, which we then verify before publishing. Claiming a listing does not grant editorial control — all information remains subject to our verification process and editorial standards.

Update Frequency & Content Freshness

Content accuracy degrades over time. Platforms change their fees, expand to new markets, update buyer requirements, or cease operations. Regulatory environments shift. Industry practices evolve. We maintain specific update schedules for each content type to keep information current.

Platform Data

Platform profiles undergo a quarterly review cycle. Every 3 months, we re-check each platform's key data points against their current official documentation. When we become aware of significant changes between scheduled reviews — such as a fee restructuring or a new market launch — we update the affected profile immediately rather than waiting for the next cycle.

Learn Content

Guides, playbooks, checklists, and templates are reviewed on an annual basis. Articles covering fast-moving topics (regulatory changes, market trends, emerging platforms) are reviewed more frequently as needed. Any article that becomes materially outdated is either updated or clearly marked with an editorial note.

Tools & Calculators

Interactive tools are maintained on an ongoing basis to ensure calculation accuracy. When underlying data changes — such as tax rates, typical fee ranges, or industry benchmarks — the affected tools are updated promptly.

Glossary

The glossary is updated continuously as new terms emerge in the vehicle remarketing industry. Existing definitions are reviewed when industry usage shifts or when new context makes a clarification necessary.

"Last Updated" Dates

All content pages display a "Last Updated" date. This date reflects the most recent substantive review or edit — not cosmetic changes like formatting fixes. When you see a "Last Updated" date, it means the content was verified for accuracy as of that date.

Correction & Feedback Policy

Mistakes happen, and information changes. We take accuracy seriously and have established a clear process for handling corrections and incorporating feedback from our readers.

Reporting Errors

If you find inaccurate information on AutoAuctionAtlas — whether it's an outdated fee, a wrong geographic detail, or a factual error in one of our articles — please let us know. You can report errors through our contact form or by emailing contact@autoauctionatlas.com.

Response Timeline

We acknowledge error reports within 7 business days. Simple factual corrections (such as an updated fee or a changed URL) are typically resolved within that same period. More complex issues that require additional research or verification may take longer, but we will communicate the expected timeline in our initial response.

Correction Process

When we receive an error report, we follow a consistent process: first, we verify the reported issue against our sources and, where necessary, against the platform's current official documentation. If the error is confirmed, we update the content and refresh the "Last Updated" date on the affected page. For significant corrections — those that materially change the information a reader would act on — we add a brief editorial note acknowledging the correction.

Community Contributions

We value feedback from automotive professionals who use the platforms in our directory. Industry practitioners often have the most current, first-hand knowledge of platform operations. Every constructive report helps improve the accuracy and completeness of our directory for the entire community, and we genuinely appreciate the time readers take to share their insights.

Editorial Independence Statement

Editorial independence is the foundation of AutoAuctionAtlas's credibility. Without it, the directory and our content would be of little value to the professionals who rely on it. Here is exactly what our independence commitment means in practice:

No Platform Partnerships

AutoAuctionAtlas has no commercial partnership, affiliation, or business relationship with any auction platform listed in our directory. Platform listings are determined solely by our inclusion criteria, not by business relationships.

No Pay-to-Play

Platforms cannot purchase a listing, a higher placement, a more favorable description, or the removal of unfavorable information. Directory inclusion is earned by meeting our objective inclusion criteria — not by paying a fee.

No Sponsored Content

AutoAuctionAtlas does not publish sponsored articles, advertorials, or paid promotional content. Every article, guide, and platform profile on this site reflects our independent editorial judgment.

No Affiliate Commissions

We do not earn referral fees, affiliate commissions, or any form of compensation when users visit or sign up for platforms through our directory. Our links to platform websites are provided for informational purposes only.

Facts, Not Recommendations

AutoAuctionAtlas presents factual, verifiable information about auction platforms and the vehicle remarketing industry. We do not make subjective recommendations about which platform is "best" — because the right platform depends entirely on each professional's specific needs, market, and business model. We provide the information; our readers make their own informed decisions.

Disclaimer

While we strive for accuracy, the information on AutoAuctionAtlas is provided for informational purposes only and should not be treated as professional advice. Platform details — including fees, requirements, and services — can change without notice. We strongly encourage users to verify all critical information directly with the relevant platform before making business decisions.
