Frequently Asked Questions
Why is a vehicle handover checklist important?
A structured handover checklist ensures that both parties — sender and receiver — have a documented record of the vehicle's condition at the moment of transfer. Without one, damage discovered later can lead to costly disputes with no proof of who is responsible. A checklist protects both sides.
What should I photograph during a vehicle handover?
At minimum, photograph the vehicle from all four sides, both interior views (front and rear), the dashboard with odometer reading, the VIN plate, engine bay, all four tires, and the keys. Also photograph any existing damage in close-up. For EVs, include the charge port and battery/range display.
What is different about a port handover?
Port handovers involve additional steps such as verifying customs documentation, recording the shipping container seal number, and checking for transport-related damage (salt, moisture, securing marks). Vehicles arriving at ports may have been in transit for weeks, so a thorough inspection is especially important.
How does this tool handle EV-specific checks?
When you select "Electric Vehicle (EV)" as the vehicle type, additional checklist items appear automatically — including charging cable verification, battery condition/range display check, and charge port inspection. These are critical for documenting EV-specific condition at handover.
Can I save my checklist progress and return later?
Yes. All checkbox states are saved automatically in your browser's local storage. When you return with the same settings (role, vehicle type, handover type), your previously checked items will be restored. Use the Share Link button to bookmark your exact configuration.
How do I use the damage report template?
The damage report template provides a pre-formatted text block you can copy and customize. Click "Copy Report Text" to copy it to your clipboard, then paste it into an email, document, or messaging app. Fill in the date, damage location, description, and photo references for each issue found.
